Burana Tower is located on the territory of a large archaeological and architectural complex near the city of Tokmok, 80 km east of Bishkek, capital city of Kyrgyzstan. This is a unique minaret, built in the XI century in the medieval city of Balasagun, the capital of the then flourishing Karakhanid state. Once there was a mosque nearby, and the minaret served to call the faithful to pray. We will see it during our tours. It is not so far from Bishkek, but car rent service will be useful for you in other tours along Kyrgyzstan.
The height of the tower is about 25 m, although in the Middle Ages it was more than 40 m: it is assumed that part of the tower was destroyed by an earthquake in the XV century. You can climb the steps to the top of Burana, where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the surrounding valley. On the east side of the tower are the remains of mausoleums. Along the perimeter of the museum complex there are ancient Turkic stone statues in Kyrgyzstan.
Our company offers car rent in any tours. You may contact our managers.
