Day 1: Dushanbe
Our transfer will pick you up in the airport and take you to Dushanbe. Today you will have a sightseeing tour in the capital city of Tajikistan. You will visit main sites such as Rudake Park, National library, White House, National state seal, House of parliament and National park. In the park you will see the Ministry of Inner Affair and the biggest National Flag in the world. It is 165 meters high, 60 meters long and 30 meters wide. In Central Museum you will be introduced to the history of the country. After lunch you will go to Gurminj Museum, where you will see the traditional musical instruments. The last attraction for today will be Asian Bazaar. It is a lively colorful bazaar, where you can find whatever you want. Today you will explore the prominent sites of Dushanbe and you will learn a lot about the culture of Tajik people. At the end of the day you will check into the hotel. 

Day 2: Dushanbe – Seven Lakes
Today we will travel to the Fannsky Gory (Fann Mountains).The road lies through the Shahriston pass (3378m a.s.l.). It is one of the best hiking areas in the country. Today you will be able to enjoy the beauty of the Seven Lakes (Marquzor lakes), which as located 60 km south of Penjakent city. We will drive along a gorge where all lakes are situated. Upon arrival you will be able to walk around the area, have a short hiking tour and admire the nature. Moreover you will meet with local people and get familiarized with their lifestyle and traditions. After an excursion you will be transferred to homestay.

Day 3: Seven Lakes – Penjakent
After breakfast we will leave the homestay and head to the city of Penjakent (“five villages”). It is situated in Khujand area in an amazing Zeravshan river valley. The five villages formed the city in the 5th-8th centuries AD. Penjakent is also known as the Central Asian Pompeii”. In ancient times it was one of the most significant cultural and crafts centers of Sogd. It was a prosperous city with a palace, two temples, markets, rich dwelling houses designed with unique paintings, wooden and clay statues antiquity. Archaeological investigations of the city were carried out only in the 20th century. Nowadays the visitors can see the ruins of houses, ancient buildings, the citadel with the palace, craftsmen’s house and the fire worshiper’s church. The overnight stay will be organized in the hotel.

Day 4: Penjakent – Iskanderkul Lake
Today the tour route will take you to the Iskanderkul Lake. It is an alpine lake situated in the majestic Fann Mountains at an altitude of 2255 meters above sea level. It is considered as one of the most wonderful natural attractions of Central Asia. Upon arrival you will be able to explore the lake and its surroundings, come up to the shore and make a 40 minutes hiking trip to the waterfall. To emphasize Tajikistan ranks a second among Post-Soviet countries and the first among the countries of Central Asia in terms of water resources. There are more than 1000 rivers, 2000 lakes and 8000 glaciers. At 7 p.m. you will have a dinner in a homestay, where you will spend the night.

Day 5: Iskanderkul lake – Dushanbe – Hisor
After breakfast we will start returning to Dushanbe. We will overcome the Anzob pass (3 372 m) and tunnel of Isticlol. On the way we will have many stops to enjoy the spectacular view and take pictures. Today you will also explore Hisor fortress (VII–XVII centuries), which is located 35 km from the capital city Dushanbe. It includes the fortified areas and the citadel. The fortress was a residence of the delegate of the Emir of Bukhara. The fortress is protected by 1 m thick walls and loopholes for guns and cannons. On the territory there was a pool and a garden, near there was a market square with several shops and caravanserai. The main entrance gates and its two towers are the best preserved to this day. Besides the famous fortress you will see the recently restored monuments of “Madrasa I Kuhna” (new school of 16th-17th centuries), mosque and the mausoleum of “Mahdumi Azam” (16th century). The overnight stay will be in a hotel.

Day 6: Flight
In the morning the transfer will take you to the airport.
